Tipperary 3-9 Donegal 0-13
Donegal suffered their first defeat of the NFL campaign as the concession of three soft goals saw them lose out to Tipperary in Thurles today.
Tipp started well and scored a goal in the second minute when Steven O’Brien hit the net.
Donegal came back well after that with Ciaran Thompson and Jamie Brennan in good form.
Brennan missed a penalty in the 32nd minute, but Donegal still led by 0-10 to 1-4 at half-time.
The third quarter was poor but Donegal extended their lead when Michael Langan converted a free.
However, Tipp reduced their deficit when Liam McGrath’s free wasn’t dealt with by the Donegal defence and the ball ended up in the net.
Donegal responded with points from Oisin Gallen and Ciaran Thompson, but Tipp finished stronger and Liam Casey swooped for a third goal after more poor play from the visitors.
Donegal couldn’t pull back their deficit and Tipp held on for a deserved win.
