This morning marked a day of celebration for over 2,000 students across Donegal who received their Leaving Certificate results, joining a total of 60,839 students nationwide. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and relief as students gathered with their families to mark the occasion.
At Errigal College in Letterkenny, the school hosted a special gathering where students, parents, and teachers came together to celebrate.
Mr. Danny McFadden, Principal of Errigal College, expressed his pride in the students’ achievements.
“It’s a big day, and you all worked so hard. You should be proud,” he said, addressing the students.
He also reminded them that their journey does not end with these results, emphasising the many opportunities that lie ahead and the continued support available from the school.
Among the many success stories from the day, one that stood out was that of Daria Kolomiychuk, a student who moved to Ireland from Ukraine nearly two years ago.
Daria achieved an outstanding 613 points, the highest in her year. Reflecting on her achievement, Daria told the Donegal News: “It’s actually unbelievable. I had only two years to study, and I hadn’t proper English when I came here.”
She is now eagerly awaiting confirmation of her first-choice course in Biomedical Science at UCD.
Celebrations were also in full swing at St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny, where students gathered to receive their results.
The joyous moments were captured by photographer Clive Wasson, who was on hand to document.
