Donegal Sports Partnership will launch the MapRun6 App at the Bernard McGlinchey Town Park in Letterkenny on Monday, August 15th at 6 pm.
The launch will coincide with a free come-and-try urban orienteering event.
Project coordinator with Donegal Sports Partnership, Kirsty Browne, said there’s a growing interest in the event.
“It’s a great opportunity for beginners, families, people of all abilities to experience something different in Letterkenny,” she commented.
“The event will also see the official launch of the maps available for both parks in Letterkenny on the MapRun6 App. The MapRun6 App gives several courses to choose from – there are short, medium and long routes available, so there is an option for everyone. There will be professionals from Orienteering Ireland available to guide and to answer any questions,” she added.
The launch will be performed by Donegal County Councillor, Jimmy Kavanagh.
To register, log on to the link below and download the app before arriving.

Walk-ins are also welcome on the evening.
MapRun6 enables a form of orienteering that uses a SmartPhone App for punching and timing, avoiding the need to put out flags and SI units on the course. This saves time and effort for organisers, courses can be left open for extended periods of time, and instant feedback is provided with track, personal results, and leader board results in the App.
