Donegal Sports Partnership hosting first aid workshops

Sports first aid workshops are scheduled for four venues across Donegal over the coming weeks.
Organised by Donegal Sports Partnership, the workshops will take place in Falcarragh, Malin, Letterkenny and Bundoran.
Commenting on the workshop series, Maggie Farrelly, Donegal Sports Partnership’s Education and Training Coordinator, said: “The workshops are designed for team coaches, mentors, officials, parents and teachers and those who work within the sports clubs in any capacity. The sessions will provide clubs with the certain knowledge that their athletes or spectators will be treated with the best possible care until the arrival of the emergency services, and will include a series of topics that cover both medical and traumatic incidents.”
She added: “The workshops will focus on calling the emergency services – when and how?, the chain of survival and the golden hour, CPR and an introduction to defibrillators, choking, the recovery position, head injuries, fractures, and medical emergencies including asthma, anaphylaxis and epilepsy.”
The course is certified by Donegal Safety Training Solutions and the certificate is valid for two years.
Participants must be aged 16 and over and parental/guardian consent is required for those under-18.
