Donegal show grit to see off Tyrone

Donegal 2-10 Tyrone 0-12

Donegal picked up two precious league points when they saw off the reigning All-Ireland champions Tyrone in MacCumhaill Park tonight.

Declan Bonner’s men started well and led by 0-3 to 0-2 after 12 minutes, but Tyrone then struck five points on the trot.

Donegal weren’t making good use of the breeze at their backs but they were level at the interval following a goal from Conor O’Donnell and a point from Jason McGee.

HT: Donegal 1-4 Tyrone 0-7

The sides swapped two points apiece at the start of the second half before Shane O’Donnell nudged Donegal in front in the 50th minute.

Tyrone soon got back on level terms and it was nip-and-tuck heading into the closing exchanges before Oisin Gallen gave Donegal the lead.

The Red Hands pushed for an equaliser but they couldn’t get it. Donegal showed grit to close out the match with Jeaic Mac Ceallbhuí sealing the win with a late goal.
