TWO men have been killed in separate road crashes which occurred within 24 hours of each other on Sunday in south and east Donegal.
Gardai are appealing for information in relation to the accidents which claimed the lives of a 70-year-old man outside Donegal town and a 19-year-old at Burnfoot.
The 70-year-old man was killed in an accident on the N15 at Drumcroil between Laghey and Ballintra at around 10.30pm on Sunday night.The man died when the SUV he was driving was involved in a collision with a jeep.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Sligo General Hospital.
Three other passengers in the SUV, one male and two females, were taken to Sligo General Hospital with injuries described as serious, but not life threatening.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, a jeep, were also taken to Sligo General Hospital with injuries described as minor.
The road was closed while gardai undertook a technical examination and diversions were put in place.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Buncrana are investigating the crash in which a 19-year-old man died when the car he was travelling in left the road at Tooban in Burnfoot. The crash happened at about 4.30am on Sunday morning.
The 19-year-old male driver and a female passenger, also 19, were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where the woman is said to be in a serious condition. The young man who died was a passenger in the car and has been named locally as Martin Strain.
