DONEGAL Mountain Rescue has reminded hillwalkers to stay safe when venturing into the mountains.
This comes following a recent callout to assist two disoriented hillwalkers in the Ballyliffin area, who found themselves trapped in a gorse-covered gorge, unable to safely extract themselves.
As darkness fell, the team from Donegal Mountain Rescue were deployed.
They successfully located and extracted both individuals.
A spokesperson from DMRT said: “They were subsequently transported to medical facilities in Buncrana for assessment, accompanied by An Garda Síochána.”
Donegal Mountain Rescue reminded hillwalkers of the importance of following safety precautions while out walking.
“We remind hillwalkers to carry appropriate navigation equipment, inform others of their planned route, and consider current conditions before heading out,” a spokesperson concluded.
