Donegal 1-10 Tyrone 5-12
The Donegal minor team were hammered by Tyrone in the first round of the Ulster Championship in Ballybofey this evening.
The sides were level at 0-3 to 0-3 after the first quarter, but then Mark Hayes netted a fine goal for Tyrone.
Donegal gradually fought back and a Shane O’Donnell three-pointer, as well as two sumptuous Padraig McGettigan points left the minimum between the teams heading into injury-time.
However, Gary Duffy’s Donegal then switched off and Tarlach Quinn hit the top corner, before Hayes pointed.
Half-time: Donegal 1-5 Tyrone 2-7
Donegal needed a bright start to the second half, but Tyrone extended their lead when Hayes scored his second goal.
Michael McGleenan and Cormac McBride added goals as the Red Hands ran out easy winners, and Donegal will have to lift themselves for the qualifiers next week.
