Donegal minors beaten by Derry in Ulster semi-final

Derry 0-9 Donegal 0-4

DONEGAL were outgunned by a strong Derry side in the Ulster Minor Football Championship semi-final.

It took Donegal 26 minutes to get on the scoreboard and their only points in the first half came from a free apiece by Shane Callaghan and Eoghan Scott.

Derry converted two frees from Conall Higgins and James Sargent kicked and fisted one from play to lead 0-4 to 0-2 at the break.

A Ger Dillon free and Higgins from play gave them a four point lead while Donegal threatened to raise the green flag.

First Scott had a shot from close range on the left blocked and as Danny Brown pointed twice in quick succession after coming on, Finnbarr Roarty almost gave Donegal the lead as he drove forward and went for goal but Derry ‘keeper Jack McClay made a great stop.

Jack Hegarty was then given a straight red and  Derry pulled away with Higgins converting a free and Sargent knocking over a quality 45, and Dillon sealed the win in added time with a good score from play.
