Donegal man’s pub sets world record

DONEGAL’S own Declan Boyle made history this week as his pub became the Guinness World Record holder of the largest Irish bar in the world.

McCafferty’s Irish Bar JVC in Dubai revealed their  brand new extension this week; and along with it came the prize of the world record.

Declan Boyle opened the first of the McCafferty’s bars in Donegal Town back in 2017. Since then the chain has grown to an impressive 18 pubs across the globe.

The Guinness World Record adjudicator, Emma Brain officially recognised the bar as the Guinness World Record holder of the largest Irish bar in the world.

This huge  venue blends Irish culture and Dubai’s unstoppable appetite for doing everything bigger, bolder and better.

At a staggering 32,000 square feet, McCafferty’s JVC  is more than a bar, it will be home to the thousands of expats who will gravitate to the bar for its Irish charm and character.

McCafferty’s JVC was officially re-opened on Monday, September 1 after a massive expansion doubling its capacity and taking over the whole roof top in Circle Mall Dubai. 

McCafferty’s JVC has undergone a major transformation in the past year. 

Hundreds of containers full of Irish pub artefacts and antiques from old telephone boxes, antique red Massey Ferguson tractors to thousands of pub signs were shipped from Ireland to Dubai to ensure the authentic feel for this giant of an Irish pub.

The new venue in Jumeirah Village Circle now boasts multiple indoor and outdoor stages for traditional Irish music and live entertainment, a massive outdoor terrace for events and over one hundred and forty eight beer taps.
