Jim McGuinness says his team were not fazed by having to play against the breeze in the second half of today’s match in MacCumhaill Park.
Donegal were seven points ahead at half-time but Derry then kicked a brace of two-pointers.
They got back to within two but there was never any sense of panic from Donegal.
McGuinness’s men were happy to work the ball inside the arc and Derry struggled to contain their running game.
“You don’t need me to tell you that we’re very comfortable playing against the breeze in Donegal.
“It’s not something that you’re in the dressing room, asking ‘how are we going to do this?’
“They’re doing it almost every single week in their club football. It’s just the way it is.
“If there’s a breeze and you have to play up a hill that’s not going to put us off.
“It just means you have to double down and the most important thing is getting hands on the ball and when you do that you can go and we would feel we have people that can do that and support that ball then.”
