A COUNTY Donegal man will lead the 16th Nottingham St Patrick’s Day Festival this month which will promote tourism in the county.
The Festival takes place from March 16 to 19 with the parade on Tuesday March 17.
This year Donegal is twinned with Nottinghamshire and Chief Marshall of the parade is John Doherty from Carndonagh.
John has lived in Nottingham for over 50 years, married Maureen and raised their family.
John is the founder and owner/director of the well established Silverdale Coach firm. In these past 50 years John has been a very active member of the Irish Community in particular the Irish Centre and Golden Shamrock Club.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “We welcome to Nottingham this year our guests Cllrs John O’Donnell, Ian McGarvey and Colin McNulty and others representing County Donegal as well as Caroline Savage, the Commercial Attaché of the Irish Embassy.
“All our guests will be greeted by Ian Malcolm, The Lord Mayor of Nottingham. At this year’s Festival, County Donegal intend to launch its new Tourist information campaign to inform everyone of what the County offers and welcome people to make a visit or consider it as a place of employment,” the spokesperson said.
