A Donegal man has tragically died after being struck by a vehicle in Galway.
The man, who has been named locally as Mark McDaid, was from Carndonagh. He was killed after being hit by a car while out for a walk on Sunday morning on the N83 at Cahervoley, Cummer, near Tuam.
It is understood Mr McDaid had driven to Galway to visit an ill sibling in hospital when the tragedy unfolded.
Mr McDaid was taken from the scene to University Hospital Galway (UHG). He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 30s, did not require hospital treatment.
Gardai are appealing to any witnesses to come forward. Road users with dash cam who were travelling on the road at the time in question are being urged to make the footage available to gardai.
