Donegal man charged with murder appears back before court

A Donegal man, charged with the murder of Ardara businessman Stephen McCahill, has again been remanded in custody.

Michael Maloney (32) of Loughros Point, Ardara appeared before Letterkenny District Court this morning via video link from Castlerea Prison. 

He is charged with murdering Stephen McCahill at Beagh, Ardara, on Monday, January 5.

The charge is Contrary to Common Law and as provided for by Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1964.

During this morning’s brief hearing, the court was told that the Book of Evidence in the case is not yet ready. 

Maloney was remanded in custody until Monday, March 9.

Mr McCahill was found dead at a location near Ardara in the early hours of Monday morning, January 5. 

His month’s mind Mass will take place in the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara, on Sunday, February 22 at 11am.
