Donegal 1-14 1-12
LEO McLoone’s 57th minute goal was the crucial score as Donegal defeated Mayo in front of 11,000 people at MacCumhaill Park on Sunday.
Mayo led by a point at the break, and while Donegal quickly cancelled out that advantage, Diarmuid O’Connor drilled a penalty to the Donegal net in the 45th minute.
Rory Gallagher’s team responded well and McLoone finished off a fine team move 13 minutes from time, to put them in pole position.
Michael Murphy and Patrick McBrearty registered late points to secure Donegal’s third win of the campaign, and they remain at the top of Division 1 on score difference.
