THE quickfire nature of the Lidl National Football League allows the Donegal ladies an opportunity to bounce back from their frustrating defeat against Kildare last week.
Donegal went into that match off the back of a good opening day win over Laois.
However, Kildare proved too strong for them in Letterkenny last week and prevailed by 1-8 to 1-4.
John McNulty’s team are out for a third successive weekend this Sunday when Westmeath come to O’Donnell Park.
There will be a break weekend after this week’s clash before Donegal face Tyrone in Round 4 on February 18.
With matches coming thick and fast, it is probably unwise to get too high with a win, or too low with a defeat.
“The next game is always coming around in the league and that’s a good thing,” said McNulty.
“If you win a match on a Sunday, you’re going to be happy that evening and maybe into the Monday, but at some stage, you have to move on and get ready for the next game.
“It’s the same when you lose. Yes I was disappointed last Sunday and again on the Monday but there’s no point in feeling sorry for yourself.
“You have to try and learn from what didn’t go to plan and there are areas that we have to improve on. Our second half wasn’t good enough against Kildare.
“In Roisin Byrne, they have a very good forward, and I think that was their 13th win in-a-row which is excellent.
“They are All-Ireland Intermediate champions and they are looking to progress. They have been together for three or four years and we don’t have that type of growth yet. We are in transition.
“We’re looking to get a settled team and hopefully we can get a good performance this week.”
Westmeath lost their opener against Tyrone but defeated Monaghan last Sunday.
Not all the ladies matches receive great media coverage, but that won’t stop McNulty from getting his preparation done ahead of the Round 3 clash.
“No that’s not a problem.
“I have always thought that if you look hard enough you will find out what you need to find out, and I have no problem looking.
“I have been doing my homework on Westmeath to get ready for the match.
“I feel there is an onus on myself no matter who I’m managing to be as well prepared as I can be and it will be the same this weekend.”
