WELL known Burtonport man Josie Murray and his niece Charlene Murray have been named the All Ireland Rock ‘n’ Roll jiving champions after scooping the national title in Galway last weekend.
Josie and Charlene travelled to Gort last Saturday to the lady Gregory hotel to compete in the All Ireland Rock ‘n’ Roll Championships. This competition is held every year, Josie and Charlene won the last year and again this year. To date, Josie has won the competition a total of eight times. He has also won competitions in America and London.
Josie and Charlene have represented Donegal many times and are well-known as being the back bone of jiving in Donegal, if anyone wants to learn to jive you can catch Josie and Charlene at Josie’s Bar in Letterkenny every Thursday night at 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
