DONEGAL is Happy has posted the eagerly awaited video, “ Happy – Pharrell Williams (Donegal is Happy) Official Video” on YouTube and overnight it has already received more than 6,000 views.
The video captures the beauty of County Donegal as well as the spirit and energy of those who live here.
The Wallace Media team began filming in Glencolmcille and over three days they moved on a whirlwind tour through the county as far as Banba’s Crown in Malin Head.
Along the way the team were joined by hundreds of people who were willing to dance – despite the unpredictable Donegal weather.
The project began with a Facebook post of some of the tribute videos done in locations around the world, and a conversation about how it should be done in Donegal.
The intention from the start was to cover as much of the county as possible, within a very short timeframe, and a team formed very quickly – Shane Wallace (Wallace Media), Denise Blake, Grace Ann McGarvey (Grace Ann consultancy), Shane Murphy and Lisa Burkitt.
The Donegal is Happy Facebook page was set up, and the call went out for participants in a list of widespread locations, and they turned up in their droves! From Zumba dancers to cowboys; from Panto characters to butchers with strings of sausages – they danced and showed how happy we can be in Donegal.
The organisers have extended a big thank you to all the people who took part, those who put groups of dancers together and the businesses who supported the project so wholeheartedly.
For your five minutes of happiness, go to YouTube and search for “Donegal is Happy” and then share widely with everyone who loves Donegal! Like on Facebook to see great photos from the action.
