Declan Bonner’s team started well and established a 0-6 to 0-3 lead after 19 minutes, with Odhran Mac Niallais and Michael Murphy both scoring two points.

However, Tyrone raised their game in the second quarter, and Donegal struggled to stop their sweeping team moves.

Peter Harte missed a penalty in the 32nd minute, but Niall Sludden did score a goal to leave the Red Hands one up at the break.

HT: Tyrone 1-5 Donegal 0-7

Tyrone started the second half brilliantly, scoring 1-3 without reply, with Mark Bradley getting the goal.

Donegal didn’t cave, and an Odhran MacNiallais goal brought them back into contention, but Tyrone never looked like losing the game.

Declan Bonner’s team will now have to win their two remaining games against Monaghan and Mayo to be in with a chance of staying up in Division 1.
