Kingfishr’s newly released music video to their new single ‘The Blade’, released this morning, showcases a stunning Donegal location and Irish stars.

The music video for ‘The Blade’ was filmed at An Grianán of Aileach stone ringfort in Inishowen and at Grainán Stables in Derry. An Grianán of Aileach stone ringfort offers a 360-degree view of the ever reaching landscapes surrounding Lough Swilly.

The popular Irish Indie-folk band’s music video features rising Irish actor Anthony Boyle, who recently won a Best Lead Actor for his role in House of Guinness that premiered on Netflix last September. The Northern Irish filmmaker Sean Patrick Mullan directed the music video after Boyle requested he would be the best candidate.

For many new film and TV projects, the hills of Donegal have positioned themselves as strong and beautiful filming locations with the county’s plentiful landscapes. Kingfishr only adds to Donegal’s rapidly rising popularity for filming on location.

Last year, Donegal ranked fifth place for the most popular filming locations in Ireland. The Netflix series ‘How To Get From Heaven From Belfast’ and the release of ‘The Lightkeeper’, both use film locations in Donegal, promoting popular sites to see and creative scenery to use in Donegal for future filmmakers and producers.

Even though the video was only released this morning, it has already attracted a number of comments for its incredible storytelling and visual aspects.

“An astonishing song and a wonderful production,” said one commentator.
