Rory Gallagher’s Donegal have been drawn in the same group as University of Ulster, Jordanstown, Cavan, and Ulster Champions Tyrone in the 2017 Dr McKenna Cup.
Tyrone are defending McKenna Cup champions, and that fixture is sure to attract a big crowd, while Donegal will get a stern test against Cavan, who will be managed by Mattie McGlennan next season.
The meeting with University of Ulster will also be intriguing as Martin McHugh is in charge of the students, and Ryan McHugh, Patrick McBrearty, Eoin McHugh, and Lorcan Connor are part of his squad.
Donegal failed to make it to the semi-finals of the McKenna Cup last season, after losing to St Mary’s and Fermanagh.
Donegal will begin their campaign on Sunday, January 8.
Full Draw:
Section A: Queen’s, Down, Derry, Armagh.
Section B: St Mary’s, Antrim, Fermanagh, Monaghan.
Section C: University of Ulster, Donegal, Cavan, Tyrone.
