A Letterkenny grandmother has become the latest Donegal contestant to scoop a fortune on the hit RTE show Winning Streak.
Teresa Shiels racked up a tidy €28,000 on the National Lottery programme on Saturday night.
Her big win comes hot on the heels of Killygordon man Gerard Muldoon’s appearance on the same show. He took home winnings totalling €45,000.
Speaking during Saturday night’s show, Mrs Shiels revealed how Winning Streak fever well and truly hit Letterkenny last week when it emerged she was to make an appearance.
Watching the programme on the night her name was drawn from the drum by Winning Streak presenters Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy, she barely flinched when she saw her name come out as there are a few Teresa Shiels in Letterkenny. She calmly waited until the end credits of the show and for the full address to be revealed.
Teresa has been married to Charlie for the past 31 years and the couple have two adult children, John and Lisa. Teresa is also a proud grandmother to little Leah who watched from home. Her family, including her mum, Marie – a long time Winning Streak fan, and her three brothers John, Jim and Martin were there to support her from the audience.
Teresa works as a receptionist for Ballyraine Park Health Centre in Letterkenny and her favourite pastime is walking. She hasn’t made any plans for her win just yet and will wait for dust to settle after her TV appearance.
Donegal’s Winning Streak continues this Saturday evening as another Donegal person will take to the RTE stage. Pauric Collum from Redcastle has been drawn to appear.
