MILFORD Resource Centre is showing Ireland’s first World Cup game today as they get behind native Amber Barrett.
The Irish squad including Milford native Amber Barrett and Letterkenny’s Ciara Grant will kick off their World Cup Campaign against hosts Australia at 11am Irish time this morning (Thursday).
To show their support for the girls in green, Milford Resource Centre is showing the match and everyone is invited to come along.
A spokesperson for the centre said, “Come join us to watch Ireland’s opening game against Australia in the 2023 World Cup!
“We’ll be showing the match in the centre and serving refreshments to get behind Amber and the rest of the team! Everyone welcome!
“Donations are accepted on the day for the Milford Development Fund.”
Meanwhile Donegal Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue has wished the Ireland squad and two Donegal players well ahead of their historic first World Cup game. The Republic of Ireland Women’s team have made history in qualifying Ireland for the tournament for the first time.
Speaking about the campaign, the Minister said: “Ireland’s first game is against Australia’s Matildas in Sydney. The team will then take on Canada in Perth and Nigeria in Brisbane.
“It is wonderful that more than four thousand fans will travel to Australia to cheer on our team, alongside the many thousands of Irish people who call Australia home.
“It is fantastic that we have two brilliant Donegal representatives on the team doing our county proud. I wish Amber, Ciara and the entire squad well on their campaign. COYGIG!”
