Donegal will face the winners of preliminary round game between Fermanagh and Antrim in the quarter-final of the 2016 Ulster Senior Football Championship.

Donegal boss Rory Gallagher wanted to avoid the preliminary round and his team have done that. However, it is not an ideal draw as Donegal will not know their opponents until four weeks before the match.

Fermanagh impressed under Pete McGrath this year and reached the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland series. However, they have never won the Anglo Celt before. Antrim struggled for form in 2015, but their qualifier win against Laois in O’Moore Park shows what they are capable of.

If Fermanagh prevail, the last-eight encounter will take place at MacCumhaill Park as the Erne county are at home in the preliminary round. It is unclear where the game would be played if Antrim win, as their stadium Casement Park is currently not in use.

Donegal will meet either Monaghan or Down in the semi-final if they win their quarter-final, while Derry/Tyrone and Cavan/Armagh are the last-eight encounters on the other side of the draw.
