THE Donegal County board have moved to clarify its position following accusations by former manager Jim McGuinness that he and six members of the squad were still owed holiday vouchers from last year.

In his Irish Times column today, McGuinness claimed seven of the panel from 2014 could not go on the end-of-season trip to Dubai because of other commitments but had yet to receive anything from the county board.

Corner back Paddy McGrath was the only player to miss out on the trip while doctor Charlie McManus and selectors Damian Diver and John Duffy were also among those who couldn’t attend.

He added that Croke Park officials had confirmed to him that any member of squad who couldn’t attend the holiday was entitled to a voucher for whatever the trip was worth.

But in a statement released in response to those claims, the county board insist they followed all the guidelines issued by the GAA.

“CLG Dhún na nGall wishes to clarify its position regarding the 2014 players and management teams holiday,” it read.

“CLG Dhún na nGall correctly followed all guidelines as issued by Croke Park to Donegal County Committee regarding holidays and are satisfied that the holiday was organised fully in accordance with those guidelines as has been confirmed by Croke Park.”
