Donegal fight back to secure league semi-final berth

Armagh 1-16 Donegal 1-16

Donegal are through to the league semi-finals after they came from behind to secure a draw against Armagh in the Athletic Grounds this evening.

Donegal were without Michael Murphy, Neil McGee, Oisin Gallen, and Jamie Brennan for the match and they were 0-5 to 0-1 down at the first half water break.

Declan Bonner’s men did lift it after that and Patrick McBrearty kicked a brace. However, Armagh were the better team and were in control at half-time.

HT: Armagh 0-10 Donegal 0-6

Armagh pushed their lead out to five points before Michael Langan scored a fantastic goal for Donegal.

The visitors trailed by two at the second half water break, and the impressive Conor O’Donnell then reduced the deficit to one.

However, Donegal were hit with a sucker-punch when Tiernan Kelly scored a goal in the 56th minute.

Donegal didn’t panic and McBrearty kicked a double while Ciaran Thompson and Niall O’Donnell were also on the mark.

Bonner’s side played keep ball at the death knowing that a draw sent them through to the semi-finals, and they will find out who they play in that last four meeting tomorrow.
