THE family of a Gortahork man living with lung fibrosis who has to receive 24-hour home oxygen therapy have said the lack of specialist care services locally is taking its toll.
Eamonn Doohan was diagnosed with the devastating life-limiting and progressive disease a year-and-a-half ago.
The 52-year-old is unable to speak because of its severity.
Mr Doohan, who is currently being tested for a transplant, must travel to the Mater Hospital in Dublin for appointments.
His family are now calling for an urgent reform in care services, amid what they have described as the emotional, physical and financial stress due to being forced to travel long distances, at their own cost, so that Mr Doohan can receive the care he badly needs.
