DONEGAL Singer/songwriters have been asked to finely tune their talents as the search for Ireland’s greatest cover version for Today FM’s Le Crunch Apple of My Eye song contest.

After the overwhelming success of last year’s contest, super healthy apple brand Le Crunch has again teamed up with The KC Show on Today FM for the nationwide search to find the next undiscovered rising Irish star.

Le Crunch is looking for contestants to choose a song that they love, to sing and record it with all their talent and submit it online to be in with a chance of winning part of €10,000 prize fund!

Last year, almost 1,000 budding artists from across the country, from ages 8 to 80, participated in the first hugely successful Le Crunch Apple of My Eye song contest in 2013, culminating in a superb final in Dublin’s Sugar Club that was broadcast live on The KC Show on Today FM. 18 year-old Nathan Johnston from Mullingar was the overall winner with his brilliant cover version of ‘I Wanna Be Like You’, walking away with the top prize of €8,000.

Kicking off on The KC Show on Monday January 20, selected entries have been played on the programme each day during the competition. Then, with the aid of a public vote, 5 acts will be chosen to perform at the National Final in The Sugar Club on 7th March which will be broadcast live on The KC Show.

Finalists will perform live on stage in front of our panel of judges and the 150,000 KC Show listeners. Le Crunch is delighted to once again call upon the excellent musical knowledge of Royseven and RTE star Paul Walsh along with songwriter Roisin O to decide who has what it takes to win the Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest.

Le Crunch’s Sandrine Gaborieau, Marketing Director said: “Following the immense success of last year’s competition, we are delighted to bring another talented Irish singer to the national limelight and award them a cash prize that could help in developing their potential to go on and do great things.”

“The variety of songs, the assortment of ages, the quality of entries and the overall talent of the Irish are the things that really stood out in the Apple of My Eye 2013,” says Today FM’s KC. “We’re hoping that we can go even further this year in our search for something special and invite everyone who has ever tried their hand at singing a song, no matter what it is, to get involved.”

Le Crunch Apple of My Eye entries can be submitted online at www.ouitolecrunch.com from Monday January 20 at 2pm. The closing deadline for entries is Wednesday, February 12 and the final will take place at The Sugar Club on March 7.
