Donegal 0-12 Meath 6-11
The Donegal minor football team’s season came to an end this afternoon in Armagh when they were defeated by Meath in the Tier 2 Minor Championship semi-final.
Shane Sweeney, Tomas Carr and Joseph Gibbions all scored two points each for Donegal in the first half.
However, Meath were strong with the wind supporting them and a penalty from Sean Smyth left them 1-8 to 0-6 ahead at the break.
Donegal hit the first four points of the second half with Jack Gallagher, Sweeney, Danny McCready and Gibbions all on the mark.
Barry Ward’s side were able to get level by the 44th minute and appeared to have the momentum at that juncture.
However, Meath wrestled back control and they scored 3-2 on the spin to race ahead.
Tomas Carr saw a penalty saved late on as Donegal’s campaign came to a frustrating conclusion.
Jeff Foley and Luke Casey added goals in injury-time for Meath and they will face Kildare in the final.
