Donegal 1-16 Tyrone 1-12
Donegal claimed the Dr McKenna Cup for the first time since 2010, after they defeated Tyrone in the Athletic Grounds tonight.
Declan Bonner’s side established an early 0-4 to 0-2 lead, but then conceded a goal, with Harry Loughran slipping the ball to the net in the seventh minute.
Donegal responded well with Martin McElhinney scoring an excellent goal, and they led at half-time after fine efforts from Martin O’Reilly (2), Odhrán MacNiallais and Frank McGlynn.
HT: Donegal 1-9 Tyrone 1-6
The Red Hands levelled at the start of the second half, but great scores from Niall O’Donnell and Michael Murphy put Donegal in front again.
Tyrone hit back with two more points, but failed to score in the final 30 minutes.
Paul Brennan and Michael Murphy notched Donegal’s last two points, and they picked up the first silverware of Declan Bonner’s tenure in charge.
