Donegal defeat Meath but key men go off injured

Donegal 1-18 Meath 1-10

Donegal recorded a comfortable win over Meath at MacCumhaill Park this evening but they did pick up injuries to two key players.

Meath got off to a great start when Cathal Hickey hit the net after 16 seconds.

Donegal were sloppy in the opening twenty minutes and team captain Patrick McBrearty went off injured.

However, they soon picked up things with Oisin Gallen and Shane O’Donnell particularly to the fore.

Donegal lost Ryan McHugh to injury at the start of the second half before Jamie Brennan scored a fine goal in the 51st minute.

Ciaran Thompson hit three points in the final quarter and Niall O’Donnell was also on target as Donegal made it six wins from seven games in the league.

Jim McGuinness’s team  will play in the Division 2 Final against Armagh in Croke Park on Easter Sunday.
