Donegal defeat Derry and qualify for McKenna Cup final

Donegal qualified for the Dr McKenna Cup Final after they eased past Derry in MacCumhaill Park this evening.

Jeaic Mac Ceallbhuí and Jamie Brennan kicked early points for Donegal but Derry then hit four points on the trot.

However, Donegal had an excellent second quarter and goals from Caolan McGonagle and Odhran McFadden-Ferry left them in a strong position at the break.

HT: Donegal 2-5 Derry 0-6

Donegal outscored their opponents by three points to one in the third quarter with Patrick McBrearty, McGonagle, and Michael Murphy all on target.

Declan Bonner’s team only added one more point through Caolan McGonagle but they were always in control of the match.

They will now play in the final on Saturday at 5pm.
