The Donegal senior football team will be without Odhran McFadden-Ferry and Neil McGee for their Ulster Championship quarter-final with Armagh on April 24, after the county decided against appealing the one-match suspensions they were handed following a melee at the end of last Sunday’s league match.
Donegal defeated Armagh by a point in O’Donnell Park, but tempers flared after the match and a scuffle broke out.
After receiving the Paddy Neilan’s referee’s report, the CCCC handed one-match suspensions to McFadden-Ferry and McGee, as well as Armagh’s Ciaran Mackin, Aidan Nugent, and Stefan Campbell for ‘contributing to a melee’.
Donegal had the option of appealing but have decided against it. Armagh have not indicated yet if they will pursue the matter.
In a statement released today, Donegal GAA said: “Following consultations last night between the county board, team management and player representatives, CLG Dhún na nGall accept the referee’s report on the Donegal v Armagh Allianz League Round 7 fixture last Sunday in O’Donnell Park. Consequently, Donegal will not be appealing the suspensions handed out to Donegal players.”
McGee has only returned from injury in recent weeks, while McFadden-Ferry was one of Donegal’s most consistent players during the league.
