A YOUNG woman who tragically lost her life in a car crash in Donegal was laid to rest in her native Derry today. Kathryn Jones (27) was travelling on the N13 Letterkenny to Sligo Road when the car she was driving was involved in a collision with a lorry in the townland of Trentabouy, Convoy at 7am.
Tributes to the popular young woman flooded in on various social media websites over the weekend and there was a large turnout at the funeral, including many friends from Donegal and work colleagues from United Healthcare in Letterkenny.
Funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Paddy O’Kane at the Holy Family Church in Kathryn’s native Ballymagroarty with burial afterwards at Ardmore Cemetery.
Speaking at the weekend Fr O’Kane said Kathryn was ‘well-known, extremely kind and very popular with everyone’. “Our hearts go out to the family and their sense of devastation and loss of such a loving young daughter, sister and girlfriend.
“The whole community is devastated and there is a terrible sense of shock and our hearts go out to the bereaved following this tragic accident.”
