Donegal County Council urges the public to dispose of waste responsibly 

DONEGAL County Council has reminded the public that burning domestic, industrial, agricultural and construction waste is an offence.

This reminder comes after a  farmer was prosecuted by Waterford City and County Council for the illegal disposal of waste by burning on Monday, September 2.

The farmer was convicted and fined a total of €4,450 at Lismore District Court earlier this month.

A Donegal County Council spokesperson said: “Donegal County Council would like to remind members of the public that the burning of domestic, industrial, agricultural and construction waste is an offence under the Waste Management Act, 1996 and can result in prosecution.

“Please dispose of your waste responsibly!”
