Murphy will receive a Civic Reception from the Mayor of Donegal, Cllr Ian McGarvey, County Manager Seamus Neely and the elected members of the Council.

The Civic Reception is in recognition of Murphy’s achievements in firing Glenswilly to the Donegal senior football championship and his captaining of the Ireland International Rules team in their win over Australia.

The 24-year old, Donegal’s All-Ireland winning captain of 2012, will receive a special presentation from the County Mayor.

Murphy, Man of the Match in last year’s All-Ireland final, was the star turn in Glenswilly’s memorable recent run to the Ulster club final, having put in a Man of the Match display against Killybegs in the county final in October.

Murphy was excellent as Glenswilly recorded a comprehensive 3-19 to 2-6 win over Killybegs, having played for Ireland in the 57-35 win over Australia at Breffni Park the previous evening.

The following week, Murphy played as Ireland hammered the Aussies 116-37 at Croke Park.

Glenswilly became only the third Donegal club in 38 years to reach the Ulster senior club final and Murphy netted a goal after only 25 seconds against Ballinderry, but Glenswilly just came up short against the Derry champions in Omagh.
