Donegal clubs learn their fate in FAI Junior Cup draw

Two of the three Donegal sides are on the road again in the FAI Junior Cup last 16.

Letterkenny Rovers will make the journey to Tipperary to face Clonmel Celtic, while Buncrana Hearts could be heading in the same direction as they will face either Peak Villa of Thurles or Crumlin United.

FAI Junior Cup favourites, and last year’s Intermediate finalists will welcome either Grangevale from Cork or Galway’s Maree/Oranmore to the Charlie O’Donnell Sports Grounds.

Letterkenny Rovers reached the last 16 with a 3-2 win over Mervue United down in Galway. Lee McMonagle and Dean McCarry twice put Rovers in front but were pegged back before Adrian Delap scored the winner and will face a long journey for the third tie in-a-row.

Buncrana Hearts had to come from behind against Harding FC at Castle Park on Sunday.

The visitors took the lead in the first half but Eoin Murphy equalised with 20 minutes to go and two late goals, courtesy of an OG and one from Shaunie Bradley helped them advance.

Cockhill Celtic marched on with a convincing 5-0 win over Askeaton/Kilcornan. Garbhan Friel and Adam McLaughlin got the first half goals and Jason Breslin, Liam Grant and Luke Rudden added further goals after the break.

Ties are scheduled to be played on the weekend of February 11.
