Donegal claims two awards at Bus Éireann’s National GEM Awards

Two Donegal staff members were honoured at Bus Éireann’s annual National GEM (‘Go the Extra Mile’) Awards, in recognition of excellent customer service, community impact, performance and forward-thinking.

Awards were issued in a number of different categories including Apprentice of the Year, Depot of the Year, Craftworker of the Year and several other categories including driver and community awards.

Andrew Hegarty was awarded Craftworker of the Year, for his skill, patience, leadership and deep commitment to safety and quality. After more than four decades at Bus Éireann, Andy has not only shaped the garage but generations of mechanics and apprentices along the way.

For going above and beyond each day, supporting colleagues and customers alike Jacqueline McKelvey won the Clerical Employee of the Year award. Jacqueline’s professionalism, empathy, and good humour have made her a cornerstone of the team and a shining example of Bus Éireann’s customer-first spirit.

In congratulating the winners, Jean O’Sullivan, Bus Éireann Chief Executive Officer said “your achievements represent the very best of Bus Éireann. You inspire us all with your commitment, ingenuity and passion for excellence. Your dedication is at the heart of what makes us a trusted and valued public transport provider.”
