DONEGAL’S only child counselling service is to remain open for the foreseeable future.
Confirming the news today in a statement to the Donegal News, the HSE said following meetings with the HSE, Tusla and the Raphoe Diocesan Counselling Services an interim funding proposal has been agreed by all parties.
“This proposal addresses the immediate issues that were highlighted by the Raphoe Counselling Service and it ensures the delivery of the Raphoe Diocesan Counselling Services for the foreseeable future.
“The HSE looks forward to continuing to work in collaboration with TUSLA and the Raphoe Diocesan Counselling Services to meet the needs of people who require this important service,” a spokesperson concluded.
This comes after concerns emerged in January when the service provider, Raphoe Diocesan Pastoral Services revealed that with “profound sadness and regret” it would be forced to close its doors in March due to a lack of funding from the State.
The not-for-profit organisation provides counselling services in seven outreach centres across the county including, Letterkenny, Dunfanaghy, Stranorlar, Creeslough and Buncrana.
