BRAZILIAN Jiu Jitsu competitors from Donegal impressed at this year’s Irish Open taking nearly two dozen medals.
Over 30 competitors from Team Rilion Gracie Ireland took part in the annual event which was held in the National Basketball Arena in Dublin last Sunday and attracted over 500 participants from around the country.
The Letterkenny-based club, which also has affiliates in Donegal town at DT Fitness and Kombat Jiu Jitsu in Derry, had four Gold medal winners: They were TJ McMenamin (Ballybofey), Stephen Simms (Convoy), William Timoney (Donegal town) and Head Coach Brian ‘Barney’ Coyle.
There were also well over a dozen club members who won bronze and silver medals, making it a very successful outing for the club.
