DONEGAL’S Séamie Séan Ó Braonáin made his mark at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
Six-year-old, Séamie Séan, who attends Creevy National School in Rossnowlagh became a household name last week after his impromptu performance during TG4’s Fleadh25’s live broadcast.
During his live TV debut, Séamie Séan told Fleadh25 presenter, Aoife Ní Thuairisg, that he was going busking at the Fleadh to save for a new suit.
His mum had agreed he could have it if he raised the money himself.
That is just what he did, playing a tune, singing and doing The Brush Dance on the bustling Wexford streets and winning the hearts of the nation in the process.
He has raised enough money to buy the dapper suit that he had his heart set on at Gerard Anthony Menswear, Carrick-on-Shannon.
Séamie Séan is the son of renowned Kíla musician Seanan Brennan and musician/actress Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick.
He’s been surrounded by music all his life, singing since the age of two and recently taking up the fiddle with Comhaltas Phil Rooney Branch, Ballyshannon.
Tomorrow, (Saturday) Séamie Séan will travel to Carrick-on-Shannon to purchase his new suit.
The day will be a grand celebration complete with a grand arrival in a stretched limousine alongside his cousins, who will serve as his “bodyguards” for the day.
He’ll also be joined by dancers and musicians from Áirc Damhsa.
Music, dancing, and plenty of laughter can be expected as Séamie Séan picks up his dream suit and enjoys a well-earned moment in the spotlight.
