Donegal began their Nickey Rackard Cup campaign with a six point win over Fermanagh.
The home side got off to a bright start, firing over five points in the opening eight minutes through Declan Coulter after 15 seconds, Liam McKinney twice, one free and one each from Danny Cullen and Ronan McDermott.
They went 0-6 to 0-4 ahead after 13 minutes thanks to anther McKinney free but that would be their last point for 12 minutes.
Fermanagh then raced into a 0-10 to 0-6 lead before a controversial sending off to Brian Teehan for a foul on Stephen Gillespie.
And while Donegal brought it back to a point with Cullen, Daire O’Maoileidigh and Jack O’Loughlin, Fermanagh would hit three back to lead 0-13 to 0-9 at half-time.
Two frees were all Fermanagh could muster up in the opening 15 of the second half, while McKinney grabbed a goal from a Coulter side line ball in between those frees.
Donegal levelled through points from Luke White from inside his own half, and two quick points inside 30 seconds from a great Ruairi Campbell score and Coulter who won the ball back instantly, 1-12 to 0-15.
Fermanagh went ahead again from another free but Donegal scored through a Coulter free and Conor Gartland had Mickey McCann’s side ahead again.
Campbell pointed again but Fermanagh levelled before Gerry Gilmore got Donegal ahead at 1-16 to 0-18 and they didn’t look back from there.
A McKinney score and four in-a-row from Coulter, three from play made the score line look maybe a bit more comfortable than it was for Donegal, 1-21 to 0-18 the final score.
