Donegal 2-7 Galway 2-8
DONEGAL let a seven-point lead slip as they lost out to Galway at O’Donnell Park this afternoon.
The Tribesmen played with the wind in the first half and led by 0-2 to 0-1 after 15 minutes.
However, Michael Murphy then scored a penalty for Donegal and Declan Bonner’s side were 1-3 to 0-4 in front at half-time.
The home side made a great start to the second half and they scored 1-2 without reply with Ciaran Thompson hitting the net.
However, Galway then swooped for a goal from Johnny Heaney, and Shane Walsh added two points.
The visitors hit the front when Sean Kelly scored a goal in the 53rd minute, but Murphy levelled proceedings with an advanced mark.
Galway were dominant and they moved two ahead. Thompson reduced the deficit to one before Michael Daly was sent off for Galway on a second yellow in the 68th minute.
Murphy had a point controversially ruled out for a square ball but Donegal did have chances to level the game in second half injury-time.
However, Thompson and Murphy both missed frees and Galway left O’Donnell Park with the two league points.
