A DONEGAL Copper Artist was left star stuck at the weekend when he presented a specially commissioned piece of art to Dublin based band, The Coronas.
In Donegal to perform at the ever-popular Fomhair Festival in Gaoth Dobhair, The Coronas were left speechless when they were surprised with a beautiful hand-made copper keep sake.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Neil Ferry, from Donegal Copper Craft, said he was thrilled when the festival committee asked him to commission a piece of art for the headlining act.
Taking a total of 12 hours to perfect, Neil said all his work is done by hand.
“There are no machines or heavy tools used it is all just small hand tools.
“All my work is unique and hand done,” he said.
When the festival committee saw the finished piece, Neil said they were overwhelmed.
“They thought it was very unique and beautiful.
“They were delighted with it,” he said.
Being brought backstage to meet The Coronas’ lead singer Danny O’Reilly, Neil said the star was absolutely delighted with the gift.
Originally from Ballyfermot, Neil struck up a conversation with the celeb who lives a mere 15 minutes away in Terenure, Dublin.
Enquiring about how the piece was made, Neil said the lead singer had never seen anything like it before.
Describing the piece as being “absolutely perfect”, Danny told Neil it was going “centre stage” in the bands new office in Dublin City Centre.
