A LEADING Donegal architecture firm will feature in a four-part original series for RTÉ One.

Episode three of Bungalow Bliss will air on Wednesday night on RTE 1 at 9.35pm. In the episode, we will see local award-winning firm, McCabe Architects paired up with locals Jonathan and Claire to repurpose their dark and dated 30-year-old bungalow along the Wild Atlantic Way.

The programme, presented by Hugh Wallace, will see four innovative architects, paired with four first time bungalow homeowners, who are desperately seeking a solution to their dark, damp and dated homes.

The new show airs on the 50th anniversary of the first publication of the hugely influential book by architect Jack Fitzsimons, Bungalow Bliss. You could browse the pattern book, pick the number of the house you wanted and buy the plan. Bungalow Bliss became an instant best-seller. Soon edition two appeared, and soon after, edition three and then edition four.  The book was rewritten, expanded on and republished often throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. A 12th edition was released in 1998 and reprinted until 2001. During these 30 years, over a quarter-of-a-million copies were sold, roughly one for every second household in the countryside.
