Is Donald Trump teeing up a visit to Donegal?

Could Donald Trump be doing the rounds at Ballyliffin Golf Course this summer? Some punters seem to think so.

US President Donald Trump has been backed at 33/1 to swing his way into Ballyliffin this summer and attend the Irish Open Golf tournament.

While a recent poll suggested a state visit from Trump would be unpopular with the Irish public, the golf trip could be on the cards according to recent bet requests from County Donegal.

The 2018 tournament will take place at Ballyliffin Golf Club and will be hosted by the Rory McIlroy Foundation. McIlroy famously received criticism and was forced to defend himself for playing a round of golf with the US President at the Trump International in Florida last February.

Trump meanwhile continued his war of words with the NFL via Twitter on Thursday over the National Anthem kneeling row but is a short 2/1 shot to stir things up even further by attending Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis next month.

The US President has also been backed into 6/4 from 4/1 to be impeached in 2018 after a week in which he caused more Twitter controversy over tweets about North Korea.

Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports said, “Another day, another storm to weather for Donald Trump and we continue to see punters coming for him to vacate the White House this year and he’s now 6/4 from 4/1 to be impeached before 2018 is out.”

He added: “A recent poll told us that the Irish public wouldn’t be doing cartwheels over a state visit from Trump but we’ll be keeping an eye out in case a golf trip materialises after a couple of recent bet requests from Donegal,  where his one-time playing partner Rory McIlroy hosts the Irish Open at Ballyliffin in July.”
