Dominant start to title defence for Naomh Conaill

Cloughaneely 0-4 Naomh Conaill 3-14

Naomh Conaill began their title defence with a dominant win over Cloughaneely at Páirc Naomh Fionnan on Saturday evening.

The Glenties men sprung to life in the second quarter, inspired by a Brendan McDyer goal after a great team move and had eight different scorers in the first half as they led 1-8 to 0-3, Shaun Maguire hitting two points for the hosts who were without county star Jason McGee.

Maguire kicked a free in what would be the only point of the half for Cloughaneely against a Glenties side missing a number of first team players, but Charlie McGuinness added two goals in the second half as Martin Regan’s side got off to a brilliant start in the championship.
