The Donegal Men’s Darts team once again were in flying form as they retained their INDO Inter-counties title on Sunday night in Killarney.
After a dominant display in the group stages, which included a 13-0 win over Mayo, 11-2 against Westmeath, 10-3 against Kildare and 9-4 against Clare, they were well on their way to winning the title again.
A tense 7-5 win over Sligo followed before another dominant quarter-final defeating Waterford 7-1, and they reached the decider as they disposed of Offaly by 7-3.
Cork were the opponents in the final and while Donegal got off to a great start with wins from John Flood and Cartha Boyle, Cork picked up their first point as Eddie Moynihan beat John Meencha.
Superb performances from Gerard McGlynn, Charlie Grant and Stephen Harron followed, but Cork won a second point as Damien O’Driscoll beat Declan Quinn.
However, Donegal just needed two more wins and when Adrian Devine won a close game, it came down to Jordan Boyce to win what could have been the deciding game.
The Newtowncunningham man was taken to a deciding leg against William Fuohy, but he took out double 16 to take the win to take the roof off the Gleneagles Hotel in front of a good squad of Donegal players.
The Donegal ladies were suffered a disappointing defeat as they made the final after victories over Carlow and Cork, but Dublin were too strong as they won 4-1.
