GOOD fortune was on Cathal Doherty’s side as he bagged two goals against St Naul’s on Monday.
However, it wasn’t just about the majors, as the 2025 county minor had a fine game otherwise, winning dirty ball and taking the fight to his opponents and he was at the centre of all that was good about his side.
He insisted that this county crown was a big boost to his club.
“It is really great to bring a cup back to the club. You don’t get them too often and it is a great boost to the club after we narrowly lost out in the Junior A final.
“We knew St Naul’s would bring a big challenge and they certainly did so in the first half and they missed a few chances.
“For the first goal, I was aiming for a point but it dipped and I had a bit of luck with the second goal as well.”
Doherty saluted his side for their resilience and the way they managed to dominate the second half.
“It’s great to win but this was a real team effort and Callum McGilloway is deadly accurate and a great man to be in midfield with.
“We have been together all through the ranks and we have a good understanding and we have a great trust in each other and in this special team.”
