FINN Harps are often maligned for not giving chances to young, local players, but Stephen Doherty has shown that it is possible to make the step up and break into the side.
Doherty hails from the Illies, and he played at Under 17 and Under 19 level for Harps.
He is a hard-working, energetic midfielder, with a nice left foot.

He has gradually been picking up experience with the first team over the last few years, and now as his 21st birthday looms next month, it appears that he is ready to kick on.
